LIFE LESSONS LEARNT WHILE SOLVING THE RUBIK’S CUBE

Quote: “Start by doing what’s necessary; then do what’s possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.” Francis of Assisi

Dear Friends,

This is in continuation of last week’s post which was inspired by Sooraj Singh.

Practice

Practice: – “Practice makes perfect”, so the saying goes, and so it truly is. You have to practice over and over again till you succeed. Take sportsmen and women for instance, they have to practice day and night in order to hone their skills no matter what the odds are. What this has taught me is to constantly practice in order be a better me. This is irrespective of our position in life.

Never Give Up

Never Give Up:- Never give up on your dream no matter the situation, no matter the number of times you fail. Your ability to get up and dust yourself up, then move on is what determines if you are a success or a failure. Giving up when you fail is not an option. My determination to learn how to solve the Rubik’s cube despite getting everything all muddled up when I thought I had solved a layer helped in getting the whole cube solved.

Learning

Learn the Process: – Sometimes in life we achieve success at a project the very first time, and subsequently we experience failure. The reason most times is because we do not understand the process involved. If I assist you in solving a Rubik’s Cube the first time, you will not be able to solve it unless you understand the process and Algorithms involved in the solution. When we skip the process, then we are heading towards failure. The lesson I learnt in this is to follow the process in achieving the goal.

Hardwork

Determination and Hard Work: – A combination of hard work and determination can unlock your potential. “Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard” – Kevin Durant. Many people are talented in one area or the other, some are even multi-talented. But, it takes a lot of hard work with determination to unlock your potential. Without these two, your talent will be wasted. No matter how passionate you are about something, you need to work hard with unwavering determination in order to unlock your potential and succeed.

Accountability

Accountability Partner: – Having a partner to account to will also help you to work harder. I made my little son my accountability partner, so I told him about my goal. Because I would not want to fail in this race thereby losing face before my little son, I had to work extra hard in ensuring I learnt to solve the Rubik’s Cube. Most times we don’t make public commitment about our goals because of fear of failure and criticism. So, remember to have an accountability partner so that it can compel you to work extra harder, and push you to succeeding.

Now you know what I learnt from the Rubik’s Cube. I hope you have learnt one or two things from this, and I hope you can use them and achieve success.

I look forward to knowing what you have learnt too. So, go ahead and share with us.

Till then, have fun cubing!
